There is a word you have been spelling wrong your whole life.
You may not remember which one right now.
That’s okay. Your keyboard does.
It has quietly corrected it a thousand times.
You have written it perfectly in a thousand messages and you still could not write it on paper.
A thousand corrections. Nothing changed.
Autocorrect is just one example. We have a lot of tools like that.
Something goes wrong. Something else makes it right.
The moment closes. And we make the same mistake again.
But who cares? Something will make it right.
And we call that help.
It is a strange kind of progress where the work improves and the person does not.
We believe something has to go wrong for anything to go right.
A mistake tells you where you actually are.
But a fix belongs to the moment. It stays there.
Understanding is the only thing that travels.
We skip it anyway, and not out of laziness. Out of relief.
When something goes wrong, we just want it to stop existing.
There is a button right there that makes the discomfort go away immediately.
So we press it. Reasonably. Every time.
But doing the right thing takes less than ten seconds.
It is not study. It is not discipline.
It is simply asking:
Why?
Ask it once, and you remember it for years.
Skip it, and the same correction will be waiting for you next week.
A tool’s job ends with the fix. You are the one who has to carry it.
Something will go wrong in your English tomorrow. It should.
That is where the next bit of progress is hiding.
So the next time something goes wrong, do the right thing.
Ask Why.
